How do I prepare for my tattoo appointment?

Make sure to drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Moisturize the area where you are going to get tattooed everyday for two weeks leading up to your appointment. No drinking alcohol the day before your session. Do not take blood thinners before your tattoo. Blood thinners can make the tattoo more painful and cause excess bleeding. You do not have to preshave the tattoo area, I will shave you before putting on the stencil. On the day of your appointment, make sure to eat a big meal 1-2 hours prior to your appointment. I would limit caffeine intake on the day of your tattoo. Caffeine can dilate blood vessels which can lead to excess bleeding. You are allowed to bring a snack with you, that you can eat during our break in the front lobby. We do not allow food back in the tattooing area. You can also bring a water bottle, but we also provide them. Make sure to bring your photo I.D. to your appointment. You can bring a plushie, headphones, a book, a switch, or anything else you need to make sure you’re comfortable! Make sure to wear clothing that gives easy access to the area where you are getting tattooed.

Can I bring a guest with me to my appointment?

We do not allow guests at Calico Ink Tattoo. The shop is small and can only comfortably accommodate the artists and clients in the tattooing area.

When do your custom books open and how do I book an appointment?

I open my custom books every couple of months. When I open my custom books, I will post a link to my booking request form on my Instagram page as well as on the home page on my website. I only accept custom booking requests through this form.

Do you have available flash?

Yes! Any available flash is posted to my Instagram highlight Available Flash. There is a button on the home page of my website that takes you to the flash tattoo booking form.

How do I book a GWYG tattoo?

I will announce the new GWYG theme on my instagram and when it’s time to book, on the home page of my website there is a button that you click for the Get What You Get booking form. There are a limited number of spots, as the designs are non repeatable, so make sure to follow my instagram where I post updates!

How old do I have to be to get a tattoo?

You must be at least 18 years of age, with a valid ID, to get a tattoo in the state of Georgia, regardless of parental consent.

Can I use numbing cream?

I do not recommend numbing cream for color tattoos; however, if you would like to use numbing cream for a black and grey or a line work tattoo that will be fine just let me know beforehand! I recommend the Mad Rabbit numbing cream, but if you use a different brand make sure it only has up to 5% lidocaine in the ingredients. Anything over that can alter the skin. Always do a patch test for the numbing cream to make sure you have no reactions to it.
